Originally handed a video camera for an english project, in 1994 I set out to record a snapshot of life at Riccarton High School for me and my fifth form friends. The result was about an hour and a half of footage that was largely unwatchable due to the laughable shakiness of the cameramen, and filled to the brim with incredible foul language, racism, insults and sexual harrassment. So if you find these clips hard to watch, spare a thought for the editor and his days of motion sickness to bring this footage to the small screen, and spare a thought for just how crass and wince-inducing this could have been! Hopefully though, you will find a laugh or two in there, I know I had many chuckles whilst cutting it together, and perhaps glance back with a rose-tinted lens on how life as a teenager was at RHS in the days of grunge, gangsta rap, and Ace of Base. Feel free to leave comments and/or suggestions below. Thanks to all who appeared and helped in making this video.
