DEPUIS 2004 IL Y A UN REVIVAL T'AS LE LOOK COCO. Un Laroche reviValmont, en quelque sorte... Les discothèques, les orchestres de bals, les radios ont toujours continué à jouer la chanson. Mais pas les télés car il n'y avait pas de clip, je n'en ai jamais fait, je refusais même de passer dans une émission en playback, je demandais à chanter en direct (pareil pour les radios en public, je venais même avec les danseurs! C'est pas du vice, ça!?). M6 programme des clips rétro dans le Morning Live. Pour programmer T'as le look coco, ils doivent remonter -20 ans après- une télé de 1984, en rajoutant un fond de cathédrale ''du plus bel effet''... (faudra m'expliquer l'idée!??!!!) Puis il y a l'opé 100% Tubes du grenier, le couplage d'une émission TV et d'un CD compilation avec un fascicule, vendu en kiosque. (1ère diffusion France : 27 mars 2004) La vidéo relookée par M6 est ensuite sur plusieurs DVD... T'as le look coco est un standard des karaokés. Mais la grande nouveauté en novembre 2005, c'est SingStar 80's sur PlayStation. Là on a l'artiste original à l'image (encore la vidéo d'M6) et au chant, et le véritable playback joué par les Gibson Brothers, pas un synthé et une boite à rythmes... Cette vidéo circule un peu partout sur le web... Kornichiba est le 1er à avoir posté cette vidéo sur YouTube, le 06/05/06. Cladstrife l'a importée sur DailyMotion le 18/06/06. T'as le look coco est aussi en bande son sur des vidéos amateurs : des délires, des soirées, des karaokés... Début 2007, elle atteint la vitesse de croisière de 200 vues/jour. Sans que j'en sache rien... En février, un collègue (CC) me dit l'avoir vue sur YouTube... Puis on me signale qu'elle est sur le site électoral du Front National: en ''espiègleries'', avec une fixette fétichiste sur les gants blancs qui leur rappellent ceux qu'ils mettent pour porter le drapeau français lors des défilés!!! De son côté l'UMP n'a pas pu s'empêcher : T'as le look coco, Sarko t'as le look ... pour annoncer que son candidat était classé le plus élégant de la campagne. Je finis par aller surfer à droite (et même à l'extrême droite) et à gauche. Et de faire une recherche Google. 206 000 résultats pour Laroche Valmont. 182 000 pour T'as le look coco: après un passage à vide, c'est redevenu hype. C'est une des expressions favorites des blogueurs blagueurs ou pas, et des publicitaires (avec sa variante: T'as pas le look coco): BlueTooth, Rolex, Samsung, Apple, Bentley, Wii, l'auto coréenne Ssangyong, Suzuki, Rover, Opel... Qui aurait imaginé un revival T'as le look coco au 21e siècle? Ben pas moi! En plein mainstream Rap-R&B, j'avais complètement zappé cette partie de ma vie. Et comme si j'étais dans Second Life à l'envers, je vois réapparaitre mon avatar Laroche Valmont! T'as le look coco est aussi sur 54 CD compilations... Parmi elles, RFM Party 80, qui accompagne la tournée éponyme commencée en mars 2007. Je suis engagé pour 21 dates dans des salles de 5000 à 12000 places, les affiches sont imprimées et un spot radio est diffusé avec mon nom, un prime time sur TF1 est programmé... Mais je décline l'offre: on est au 21e siècle, je suis dans une 3e vie, pleine de réussites et d'autres musiques... M.Pokora (né l'année où j'étais au Top 50!) fait un show hip-hop dans la continuation du mien, je vais pas m'y remettre aujourd'hui... Recommencer en 2007, ça voudrait dire quoi? Autre signe de revival, plusieurs covers de T'as le look coco circulent: techno, pop, chinois, la parodie de Boris: T'as le look crado... Et encore mieux, 2 groupes punk ont enregistré chacun une version, qu'ils vont sortir fin 2007 sur un split CD. Another collection of my favorite rock videos from the 90's, a decade where songs were original and the music videos for them pushed the boundaries of creativity to the MAX. This is just my personal top twenty. This video was made to showcase some of my favorite artists from a decade well remembered. All of the songs on this list were hits at one point in time, but many unfortunately have become forgotten in this crowded music scene. I chose songs based on the impact they had on me, and I'm sure some of them had the same effect on you growing up. This is the second act of Crunc Tesla's performance at the renowned 205 Club in New York City's lower east side district. This is a solo improvisational work based on the deconstruction of an Uffie song fused with various other artists in the Ableton live program triggered by a usb Miditar. This piece was also a challenge to Raedawn's former bandmates in DOZ who also played that night. It was their first time seeing each other since Raedawn was expelled from the group a month prior. The proof is on dazzling display on Standing In The Spotlight, Dee Dee King's debut album on Sire Records. One of the most upfront, exciting, and explosively entertaining entries so far this year, Standing In The Spotlight features nine Dee Dee (make that King) rap originals, plus a hip-hop version of "Mashed Potatoe" that blows other recent dance craze remakes right off the floor. In some ways, Dee Dee King is the next logical step for the man behind the words of "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment," "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker," "Lobotomy" (sic) and "Rockaway Beach." In other words, it's as completely unexpected as Dr. Jeckyl's transformation into Mr. Hyde. This particular transformation began about three years ago, when Dee Dee (make that Ramone) first picked up on the burgeoning rap world. "I fell in love with the stuff," he enthuses. "It was happening on the street, which is right where my music has always been. The words just knocked me out, maybe because I've always considered myself first and foremost a lyricist. In fact, I'd been exploring ways to expand the whole verse-chorus-verse structure, to take it a step further and make it more like a short story." After some intensive study of the best and brightest rappers on the New York City circuit, Dee Dee was ready to make his move. "I'm not black and not interested in pretending I am," he asserts. "My roots are in rock and roll and that is the direction I took my raps." What began to take shape is a sound Dee Dee called "Rap In' Roll," a mixture of Ramones energy and King-style rhymes that taked out a whole new musical turf. "The sound had to be there," he continues, "but in rap, the image can be just as important. I went out and bought the sweatsuits and Adidas sneakers, but it didn't feel right. So I mixed my own style with what the other rappers were wearing. I spent a lot of time getting just the right jewelry -- the best I could find -- and mixed it with my traditional Converse hi-top sneakers." The end result resembles a modern day hip-hop James Dean look, with which Dee Dee feels very comfortable. Taking the name Dee Dee King, his next step was to try out his rapology on the public. An early single, "Funky Man," garnered favorable response and invited comparisons to such inventive rappers as Rappin' Rodney and Jazzy Jeff. "A lot of people including Schooly D. wanted to work with me after that and believe me, I was tempted. But I knew I was going in my own direction and I wanted to stay on track." With producer Daniel Rey behind the boards, and such special guests as Debbie Harry and former Blondie guitarist Chris Stein, Dee Dee King started work on an album of his own. The result is "Standing In The Spotlight" and if it's safe to say The Ramones changed rock forever, you can be sure Dee Dee King will do the same for rap. "As my alter ego, King is able to do a lot of things I've always wanted," explains Dee Dee. "On 'The Crusher,' he becomes a professional wrestler. In 'Commotion In The Ocean,' he goes to California and becomes a surfer, and in 'German Kid,' he actually raps in German. But I think what was the most exciting to me was the chance to be really romantic on rap ballads like 'Baby Doll.' I think people have always seen me as a very hard-edged guy. Actually, love is the most interesting thing I can think of to write and sing about. Maybe some Ramones fans will be shocked at the sentiments coming out of Dee Dee King's mouth, but that's just another part of who I am and how I feel." The pieces are all in place for Dee Dee King's "Standing In The Spotlight" to emerge as a sizzling solo debut. The immediate future holds plans for a video or two off of the LP and a possible tour, but one thing is certain: Dee Dee King is set to make the same kind of impact on rap that Dee Dee Ramone has made on rock.
