One of the best socially conscious rap songs of the old school hip-hop. Groups like Public Enemy and KRS One emerged later in the '80s with rap songs that usually had a political message of some kind. Chuck D of Public Enemy even called rap "The black CNN" for its ability to reach a young black audience. The socially conscious style gave way to rappers in the '90s who seemed more concerned about their cars, jewelry and women. The track is based on an obscure dance song called "Cavern" by the group Liquid Liquid. The song "Cavern" was influenced by the many different sources, funk, dub reggae of the 1970s. This track has been sampled and completely remastered by Joseph "Biggie Grand" Saddler and Sugarhill House Band. Sugarhill House Band bassist Doug Wimbish rearanged and played instantly recognizable bassline. Joseph "Biggie Grand" Saddler and Melvin "Melle Mel" Glover broke up before "White Lines" was released. Joseph Saddler, who was the DJ, went to court with Melvin Glover, who was the rapper, over rights to the name "Grandmaster." The video was directed by then unknown film student Spike Lee as a part of the college project & starred then unknown actor Laurence Fishburne. Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five Ft. Melle Mel - White Lines (Don't Don't Do It) Ooh White Lines, Vision dreams of passion Blowin' through my mind) and all the while I think of you High price, a very strange reaction For us to unwind, the more I see, the more I do Something like a phenomenon, Baby! Tellin your body to come along, but white lines blow away Blow! Rock it! Blow! Ticket to ride, white line highway Tell all your friends, they can go my way Pay your toll, sell your soul Pound for pound costs more than gold The longer you stay, the more you pay My white lines go a long way Either up your nose or through your vein With nothin to gain except killin' your brain Higher, baby Get higher, baby! Get higher, baby! And don't ever come down! Freebase! Pipeline pure as the driven snow Connected to my mind) and now I'm havin' fun, baby! High price it's getting kinda low Cause it makes you feel so nice I need some one-on-one, baby! Don't let it blow your mind away Baby! And go into your little hideaway 'cause white lines blow away Blow! A million magic crystals, painted pure and white A multi-million dollars almost overnight Twice as sweet as sugar, twice as bitter as salt And if you get hooked, baby, it's nobody else's fault, so don't do it! Higher, baby Get higher, baby! Get higher, baby! And don't ever come down! Freebase! Don't you get too high, don't you get too high baby! Turns you on, you really turn me on and on When you gonna come down, my temperature is risin' When the thrill is gone, no, I don't want you to go A street kid gets arrested, gonna do some time He got out three years from now just to commit more crime A businessman is caught with 24 kilos He's out on bail and out of jail And that's the way it goes Raah! Athletes rejected, governors corrected Gangsters, thugs and smugglers are thoroughly respected The money gets divided The women get excited Now I'm broke and it's no joke It's hard as hell to fight it, don't buy it! Get higher, baby Get higher, girl! Get higher, baby! C'mon!... Little Jack Horner sitting on the corner With no shoes and clothes This aint funny, but he took his money And sniffed it up his nose Hey man, you wanna cop some blow? Sure, what you got, dust, flakes or rocks? I got China White, Mother of Pearl, Ivory Flake, What you need? Well yeah, well let me check it out man, just let me get a freeze Go ahead man, stuff I got should kill ya! Yeah man th-that's that's raw, wuh

http://www.newtes.com http://www.djraedawn.com This is an exclusive excerpt taken from a live perfomance in Paris in 2003. The Parisian Techno Rap crowd that night were awestruck by the convergence of sounds. This particular clip was at the begining of their set. It starts with a Tes rapping Testarossa over a Busta instrumental created by the Neptunes. Then Tes performs his first hit single New New York with Raedawn providing a Jimi Purple Haze and an Aphex Windowlicker backspining sequence. It was the first show of their legendary first tour through France in which they received encores in every city. Look for more parts of this show along with countless other brought to you by Nono Tv Broadcasting. Tes' newest full length solo is set to be released in 2008 featuring Stereolab, Funkstorung, Johnny Dark (producer of Junior Boys first album originally released by Nick's KIN imprint), M.Sayyid, dDamage, Crunc Tesla, Krazy Baldhead, Vast Aire of Cannibal Ox, Dres of Black Sheep, Eric of Juan Mclean, Black Dice!!!! Dj Raedawn has since gone on to release music under the name Crunc Tesla on the US idm label Tigerbeat 6 as well as the Parisian techno rap/ pop label Ekler'o'shock. Here's a fan testimony: These guys rock fosho! this is some totally trippy psych rap type stuff!! I saw them play in Paris once and they got an encore ! these guys really know how to throw a party and keep it hype. I love them so much that I had to follow them on their tour .... for every single show! I've heard them rap and sing over acid and dancehall even 80's music or rock or like whatever! these dudes rap over everything. They are also both really sexy boys !! what girl wouldnt wanna toootally make babies with these cats. Yes O Yes I'm a hippy and proud of it! these guys are Animals on stage! they do basically whatever they want. They're so cool that they even smoked me out one day while I was trying to solve my rubik's cube ... It's sooo funny because traveling with these men in Europe was such a blast that I actually let one of them take a crazy photo of me and my dog's ass !!! go figure !? they deliver the raw uncut what!??! I hear that Tes Uno also goes by Terry 2 tone ... as well as Youthfull Offender. He also did an ill song with this producer they call KB on the Ed banger volume 1 compilation that came out last year. Mr. Tes is sooo hot it makes me want to go to a rave and do some ecstasy while drinking water from the ocean that has little fish in it! also the other dude named Raedawn is the most dope dj that I have ever seen. he skratches with such finesse that it makes me envision mattresses on my back in a fashion that attaches to my atlas! This sound he brings really reminds me of dub or some awesome psychedelic electronica for the club or park jam. He is sooo cute ..... like a little bunny or something. my friend played indoor soccer against him and toootally lost the match in the finals because the hardcore next level style that he used was killer! I hear he has a project called Crunc Tesla and he uses a tricked out midi guitar called a " miditar " that he connects to his laptop. this video is so psyh synth alternative that it is making me go completely nuts. I saw them play in london too and they brought that gabba metal to a stadium and completely crushed ish....while we all did shrooms listening to baltimore club records from the underground. But really, this music is straight up Soul from the breakcore type of movement that I have been krumping to lately. this is some math that is totally advanced. it stays bumping on my apple iphone and my old ipod. I even heard these kings rap over old school stuff like drum and bass and trip hop too...Rae even says he's got a Reggaeton project In fact, I'm actually a kitten named lisa Simpson !..... I cant wait until the new simpsons disco movie comes out because this punk baile funk jazz is gonna take america and europe by storm. Look out! it's the AMERICAN ASSAULT !

He attended Junior High School in Floral Park, New York, where he met his future wife Aisha Murray and they graduated in 1991. They attended Martin Van Buren High School together but he did not graduate. When Atkins was five years old, his sister died from respiratory problems. Growing up in a strict religious home, Atkin's family did not celebrate birthdays and Christmas, and as a child, was not allowed to listen to rap music. When he first heard it, he decided to be a rapper. He would sneak the music into his house and played it on his CD player when his mother wasn't around. Atkins is married to his high school sweetheart, Aisha Atkins née Murray. They have three children: Brittney (11), Jeffrey Junior (6) and Jordan (3).He and his family live in a mansion in New Jersey. Rise to Fame At age 15, Atkins appeared with 0-1 and Chris Black as part of Cash Money Click. This would lead to him being signed by TVT Records. He would end up being heard by a young DJ who called himself DJ Irv, then later Irv Gotti. Gotti, was a friend of Jay-Z's and he was also a DJ for Def Jam Recordings. During the mid 90s his main priority was meeting Ja Rule. He wanted to sign Ja to his new label Murder Inc. Records. He wanted Ja because of his distinct deep voice. After Irv was able to sign Ja along with DMX and Jay-Z to Def Jam. He beagn to have an idea that they all work together. They formed a group named The Murderers. They recorded many songs together. Friction tore the group apart, DMX, a rapper that sounds very similar to Ja accused him of trying to steal his style with the deep voice, by saying that before the three were signed Ja tried to make his voice sound lighter but heard him embrace the deep voice and tried to imitate it. They had planned to release an album together, but this idea was scrapped and they all made appearances on their respective albums. Still, around this time, Ja Rule was still fairly unknown. Jay-Z, at the time a young star and new to Def Jam, was the most popular rapper in hip hop. Russell Simmons had the idea that in order to build hype around Ja Rule and capitalize on Jay's popularity that Ja Rule do a verse on Jay-Z's 1998 single Can I Get A..., which also featured Amil. Ja's performance of the verse made him a household name and he became an instant star and by the release of his album a year later he was one of Def Jam Recordings premier acts. Venni Vetti Vecci (1999) In 1999, Ja Rule released his debut album Venni Vetti Vecci on Murder Inc./Def Jam. The album featured summer smash "Holla Holla". That single would propel the album to a platinum certification. His album featured appearances from Jay-Z, DMX, Memphis Bleek, and Ronald Isley. In 2000, Atkins was also featured on Irv Gotti's successful album, Irv Gotti Presents: The Murderers, which featured other Murder Inc. record label artists as well as DMX, Jay-Z and Busta Rhymes. Rule 3:36 (2000) In 2000 Atkins released Rule 3:36, his second album. The first released single was "Between Me & You" featuring Christina Milian, which proved to be a hit and was followed by another successful single, "Put It On Me" featuring Lil' Mo and Vita. The album received an unexpected level of support, and went on to go triple platinum. By this time Ja Rule was even more popular than Jay-Z and made an appearance on LL Cool J's G.O.A.T. album. Pain Is Love (2001) On October 2, 2001, Atkins released his third album, Pain Is Love. The first single, "Livin' It Up", was another hit. It featured guest vocals by R&B singer Case and sampled Stevie Wonder's "Do I Do". The follow up single, "Always On Time", was released in December of the same year and was yet another success. The song introduced the public to singer Ashanti, who performed the chorus. The album also featured the successful remix "I'm Real" with Jennifer Lopez. Finally, the album included the song "So Much Pain", a tribute to Tupac Shakur, and also went on to become triple platinum. Due to the additon of Ashanti, Lil Mo ended her relationship with Murder In
